Why did the chicken cross the road?

Why did the chicken cross the road?

To prove it could be done. – S. Truett Cathy

This quote by S. Truett Cathy reflects his determination to succeed despite his obstacles. He believed in taking action and proving himself through his accomplishments. His legacy inspires others to pursue their dreams with perseverance and hard work.

It is important to be resourceful and think outside the box when searching for resources. Networking and asking for help can also lead to discovering valuable resources. Lack of resources produces creativity. As a person with a disability, it’s important to be creative to overcome obstacles. For instance, a person with a physical disability may need to find creative ways to navigate their environment or complete tasks. Access to resources such as assistive technology or support services can enhance their creativity and ability to overcome obstacles.

My adventure at Chic-Fil-A started very interestingly. I got the job by asking a friend of a friend for a favor. I had no experience in the hospitality industry but was willing to learn and work hard. A friend of a friend was impressed with my enthusiasm and gave me a chance to prove myself. The idea of asking was an act of desperation. Being desperate sometimes gives you courage. It takes courage to admit when you need help; asking for help can often lead to unexpected solutions and outcomes. Desperation can push us out of our comfort zones and into taking risks that we may not have otherwise considered.

I started confidently doing what I could and figuring out what I couldn’t, which worked for the most part. However, sometimes I had to ask for help or seek guidance from others, which allowed me to learn and grow even more in my abilities. The occasional request for help was there too. Working with friends made asking easier. Having a support system in the workplace is important, and friends can provide that. However, it's also important to not rely too heavily on others and develop your own problem-solving skills.

After a while, it became easier to do my job because I had developed techniques and strategies to tackle difficult tasks independently, which gave me a sense of independence and confidence in my abilities. This allowed me to take on more challenging things and grow both personally and professionally. I became better at time management and hustling. The biggest thing I had to learn was how to do tasks in order so that I could multitask. This became second nature to me. The most interesting thing I had to learn was where to put all my supplies and other things in my apron. Being one-handed, that was a big deal.

The lessons I learned at Chic-fil-A made an impact on my life. I learned to have more compassion toward people. People can be cruel, and sometimes we can only be compassionate. Occasionally, you can’t please someone no matter what you do. You must do what you can and move on. There are always going to be bumps in the road. No road is smooth. On a positive note, I learned that you can be a small part of someone’s day and still make the biggest impact.

Overall, Chic-fil-A was an awesome first job. I learned many valuable lessons. Most importantly, it encouraged me to pursue bigger and better things. If it weren’t for Chic-fil-A, I wouldn’t have the courage or the motivation to pursue my dream job. Chic-fil-A instilled a sense of purpose and drive. The positive experience and values that Chic-fil-A instilled in me have helped me develop a strong work ethic and determination to succeed in all aspects of my life. I am grateful for Chic-fil-A's impact on my personal and professional growth. This experience has taught me that even the smallest opportunities can lead to great success.
