Is there a reason why mistakes made by people with disabilities are viewed more critically? People with disabilities face numerous challenges daily and adding another layer of judgment can be damaging. A common misconception is that we must “be better” for the world and do what it takes to fit in, rather than the world becoming a better place for everyone. This mentality leads to mental destruction, causing a sense of inadequacy. The desire to better yourself and set goals are okay. This is part of what it is to be human! It's okay when you are making little steps to progress toward your goals.

You are making progress despite the need for results. Society tells us that if we do not reach our goals, we aren't trying. This is false; small steps can lead to significant long-term results. The plan needs to be customized for you and needs to be manageable. Do not give up; change how you reach your goal. Despite everything society tells you, you are enough if you're doing your best. Please remember that taking a break is okay, too. Allow some time to reflect and evaluate your progress. Self-care is essential for your health. You can only accomplish something when your glass is full. So, reward your efforts by ordering that large pepperoni pizza. You can have that double chocolate cupcake, take that day trip, or buy the shoes! You deserve it because you are enough!
