As disability advocates, we often neglect to be grateful for the progress we have made. It is important to take a moment to reflect on how far we have come in disability rights. By recognizing and celebrating our achievements, we can continue to push for further advancements and improvements in the future. Let us not forget to express gratitude for the hard work and dedication of those who have fought tirelessly for the rights of individuals with disabilities. Their efforts have paved the way for greater inclusion and accessibility in society, reminding us of the importance of perseverance and unity in creating positive change.
After all, we are not hidden away in institutions anymore. We must continue to amplify our voices and support the cause, ensuring that progress is not only maintained but accelerated. By standing together and advocating for our rights, to appreciate what we have, we have to acknowledge the past. We can better appreciate the steps taken towards a more inclusive society by acknowledging the advancements made by those who came before us. Their stories and experiences serve as a reminder of the importance of continuing to advocate for a more inclusive and accessible society for all.

The ADA Act of 1990 was just a baseline for the progress that we've made in creating a more inclusive society, and it is up to us to build upon that foundation for future generations. It is important to recognize the ongoing work needed to ensure equal access and opportunities for all individuals, regardless of ability. The Olmstead case, which further emphasized the importance of community integration for individuals with disabilities. By continuing to learn from our history and actively working towards a more inclusive society. Brown vs. Board of Education was another landmark case that highlighted the need for equal access to education for all individuals. The Terri Schiavo case was another important milestone in the fight for disability rights, as it highlighted the need for individuals with disabilities to have autonomy and control over their own lives. These cases continue to shape policies and practices that promote equality and inclusion for all individuals, ensuring that no one is left behind in our society. These historical events remind us of the ongoing fight for equality and inclusion in our society. My point is some countless cases and milestones mark our progress, and it is important to recognize and learn from each of them to continue moving forward. By understanding the significance of these events, we can work harder and better with more awareness and determination. I will never forget when I met Judy Heumann at a virtual event; I thanked her for her service and dedication to the disability rights movement. I thank her for her service because when you are a disability advocate, it's just that. you are serving. You are advocating for the rights and inclusion of individuals with disabilities, and it is a cause that requires dedication and perseverance. These advocates eat, sleep, and breathe their work, constantly striving to make positive change and a lasting impact. Their passion and commitment are truly inspiring, and I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from them. Many, many, many advocates have served and have dedicated their lives. I wish I could sit here and name them all. I am grateful for every one of them, as they have paved the way for progress. Their tireless efforts have made a significant difference in the lives of so many, and their legacy will continue to inspire future advocates to carry on the important work. Their tireless efforts have led to significant advancements for individuals with disabilities. It is important to recognize and appreciate the contributions of these advocates.
It's easy in our frustration to focus on the setbacks and challenges we face, but it is important to also acknowledge the progress that has been made and the potential for further advancements in the future. By staying informed and actively participating in efforts to promote equality and inclusion, we can improve the conditions of the unjust systems that exist in our society. Through education, advocacy, and collaboration, we can continue to improve the lives of marginalized communities and strive toward a more just and equitable society for all. It is essential to remain committed to these efforts to create lasting change and ensure that everyone has equitable opportunities. It is important to recognize that change does not happen overnight and requires sustained effort and dedication. By working together towards a common goal of equality and justice, we can make a meaningful impact on the lives of those who have been historically marginalized. Together, we can build a more inclusive and compassionate society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Let's continue to push for progress and advocate for those who have been silenced or overlooked.
